Healthcare providers in developing communities regularly confront challenges with patient identification. This lack of basic information can deter individuals from receiving appropriate health care and slowing any type of diagnosis can ultimately cost lives. Therefore worked with Simprints to design a handheld biometric scanner to be used in the World’s toughest settings; the first ever low-cost, open-source, biometric system of its kind.

Simprints were confident in our ability to deliver a reasoned and effective solution. Developed using iterative ergonomic rigs and prototypes directly field tested by therefore in south east Asia. The scanner had to address important social and cultural issues, particularly the avoidance of direct physical human contact.
